ANGA COM 2017: Kick-Off with Exhibitor Record and New Exhibition Halls

Cologne/Germany, 29 May 2017 | ANGA COM, the international Exhibition and Congress for Broadband, Cable & Satellite will start tomorrow, Tuesday, with a record number of 460 exhibitors from 37 countries. ANGA COM has moved into two new exhibition halls and the modern CongressCenter North. Another new feature is an open air plaza with food trucks.

Key topics of exhibition and congress are Gigabit Networks and new TV forms. This year, the joint opening discussion with the media forum NRW features a particularly top-class panel of representatives from the broadband and media industry: Dr. Hannes Ametsreiter (CEO, Vodafone Deutschland), Niek Jan van Damme (Member of the Management Board, Deutsche Telekom), Anke Schäferkordt (CEO, Media Group RTL Deutschland), Carsten Schmidt (CEO, Sky Deutschland), Lutz Schüler (CEO, Unitymedia), Ronny Verhelst (CEO, Tele Columbus) and Christoph Vilanek (CEO, freenet). The discussion with the title “Gigabit, 4K and Over the Top: Broadband and Media under Disruption” will be moderated by the famous TV journalist Claus Strunz, who will also be a member of the team moderating the German “chancellorship duel” in September.

The International Television & Broadband Summit is the highlight of the international programme section which is made up of 14 panels in English altogether. Speakers will be: Yvette Kanouff (Senior Vice President / General Manager Service Provider Business, Cisco), Manuel Kohnstamm (SVP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Liberty Global), Gerhard Mack (Chief Commercial Operations Officer, Vodafone Deutschland), Steve McCaffery (President International, ARRIS Group), Mads Arnbjoern Rasmussen (CTO of Huawei Europe, Huawei), and Dr. Dirk Wössner (President, Consumer Business Unit, Rogers Communications, Canada).

Topics of the congress’ broadband panels include Gigabit Networks, new cooperation models, DOCSIS 3.1, WiFi, Internet of Things, Smart Home and Smart City. Media topics include AppTV and OTT, HD and UHDTV, DVB-T2, Virtual Reality, Big Data, Personalized TV, copy right and the diversity of providers in the television market. On the opening day, the media forum NRW which is organized by the Mediennetzwerk.NRW this year, stages media-political congress panels and disputes. The events will focus in particular on the changes in communication and opinion shaping by intermediaries and the ensuing challenges for media politics and media suppliers.

As in the previous year, the third day is designed as Broadband Theme Day with free access for all visitors upon prior online registration. On this Thursday, the agenda focuses on infrastructure topics and addresses cable and fiber optic network operators alike. The eight strategy and technology panels cover a range of topics such as regulation issues for the Gigabit society, cooperation models for broadband roll-out, Smart City, Smart Home, the Internet of Things and DOCSIS 3.1. This theme day’s cooperation partners are: Bitkom Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media, BREKO Broadband Association, BUGLAS Association of Fiber Network Operators, VATM Association of Telecommunications and ZVEI Association of the German Electrical and Electronics Industry.

The visitor registration for exhibition and congress is available online at With prior online registration, an admission ticket to the exhibition costs 22 Euros for three days (ticket office on-site: 35 Euros). Congress season tickets start at 100 Euros, on 1 June 2017 exhibition and congress are completely free of charge upon prior online registration.
